As said in the previous post – this winter is quite poor for snow in the Northern Kyrgyzstan. At this date (Jan 18, 2018) we have around 40-45cm of snow at the Aksuu Backcountry Skiing yurt lodge site and around 50-60cm at the higher-altitude slopes. See some photos below.
Woohoo!!! We are so much happy to announce a completely new backcountry skiing yurt lodge setup at new location. Jyrgalan valley is well know for the huge snow amounts, nice scenery and great amount of lines for beginner and average backcountry skiers. More info will be available soon at the separate page (left menu). As for now you can make a reservation by contacting us.
This season we started earlier to avoid difficulties connected with the transportation of all camp stuff and yurts. The way up to the Aksuu Backcountry Yurt Lodge site took just 3 hours with 2 military soviet URAL trucks compared to 3 days last years late December. We are already running, welcome.
More then a year of shooting in different locations. Gone through all weather conditions, meeting different people all around the country. And finally 6+ weeks of editing. Result is this nice shot movie. Check out some Aksuu Backcounty Yurt Lodge scenes through the video.

Valentines day? Never heard about this. This time the Feb 14th is a great day to hang out with friends at Suusamir valley. Tons of powder everywhere. Probably this is the the best place for freeskiing this time all over the country. This season is very poor for snow conditions even in Karakol and around. Quite dangerous avy conditions. Check out some photos.
Once again. A couple seasons ago Dan Milner had a nice week at our parners yurt along with the Lib Tech ripper James Stentiford and Roxy rider Tania Detomas. Check out official post and gallery at the LibTech website.
Our friends had a great backcountry trip last week at Aktuz areas! Check out the video compilation below.
Aktuz is a small village nearby the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border which was found in the Soviets times to support a few uranium enrichment facilities.
Last year the 40tribes yurt site had some nice guests like a great photographer Dan Milner (the Deep movie), a great traveler Tristan Kennedy and numerous pro-rides. It’s been a while, but here is a great article by Tristan describing Kyrgyzstan backcountry experience!
